SmART City 2021 – Vernetzte Kommunikationsschichten ist ein Kunstprojekt, welches sich im Kulturschutzgebiet Stuttgart mit dem Themenbereich der digitalen und smarten Stadt auseinandersetzt. Drei interaktive KI-Telefonzellen werden im Gebiet der zukünftigen Maker City an der Wagenhalle aufgestellt. Mithilfe von Algorithmen werden eine Vielzahl von lokalen Daten erfasst und diese in den Zellen verarbeitet und zu unterschiedlichen Zukunftsszenarien des Quartiers fusioniert.
Ziel des Projekts ist es, das kreative Potenzial von Stuttgart mithilfe von Datenquellen zu errechnen und das Thema Smart City künstlerisch von unterschiedlichen Seiten zu beleuchten. Wer die Telefonzellen betritt, kann auf einem Bildschirm eine sich live verändernde Visualisierung der erfassten Daten sehen und dieses digitale Kunstwerk selbst beeinflussen. Denn die originalen Telefone wurden mittels modernster Technik wieder zum Leben erweckt und ermöglichen es u.a. auch mit einem intelligenten Telefoncomputer namens Marvin zu sprechen. Wer den Hörer abnimmt, kann mit Marvin interagieren und auf eine Reise in die zukünftige Maker City gehen
Neben der Beeinflussung der Algorithmen durch die Besucher*innen spielen das lokale Klima, der Aktienkurs von Daimler, die globale Halbleiterproduktion, die anwesenden Künstler*innen im Quartier, die Feinstaubmenge in der Gegend sowie persönliche Gesundheitsdaten einzelner Künstler*innen eine entscheidende Rolle. SmART City 2021 – Networked Communication Layers is an art project that explores the thematic area of the digital and smart city in the cultural conservation area of Stuttgart. Three interactive AI phone booths will be placed in the area of the future Maker City at the Wagenhalle. With the help of algorithms, a variety of local data will be collected and processed in the cells and fused into different future scenarios of the neighbourhood.
The aim of the project is to calculate the creative potential of Stuttgart with the help of data sources and to illuminate the topic of Smart City artistically from different angles. Anyone who enters the telephone booths can see a live, changing visualization of the collected data on a screen and influence this digital work of art themselves. This is because the original telephones have been brought back to life by means of the latest technology, making it possible, among other things, to talk to an intelligent telephone computer called Marvin. Anyone who picks up the phone can interact with Marvin and go on a journey to the future Maker City.
In addition to visitors influencing the algorithms, the local climate, Daimler’s share price, global semiconductor production, the artists present in the neighbourhood, the amount of particulate matter in the area, and personal health data of individual artists play a crucial role.
